Re-post of Val's Ocean field trip without the Map

Field Trip By The Winter Sea
Hi Ladies,
I have not heard from the Sewer Dept yet about a field trip but I am still working that.

I did hear back from Bob Zottoli who is a very active retired field biologist. He would like to take us on a "rocky coast" field trip. He does not charge a fee for his lessons. According to the tides and light, we are planning for 11:00 November 30 near the Giant Stairs on Bailey's Island. We can each bring our own lunches and plan on doing an in-the-car picnic if it is too cold to sit out.

To help the kids prepare for this trip Mr.Z suggested we check out http://www.bigelow.org/mitzi and the image library. We will at least see some of these critters on our field trip.

Warm clothes are an obvious to-take item, also warm shoes or boots with rubber soles. Sketch books, buckets, nets, rubber gloves are optional. Thermos with coffee or cocoa, picnic blanket, magnifying glasses or binoculars, etc. are up to your discretion.

If there is any bad weather we will not do this trip. We will plan on doing a marsh-life field trip with him in the spring.

Basic directions: 24S from Cook's Corner. ( Go over crib stone bridge, past Log Cabin, past Mackeral Cove) +17 miles take a left onto Washington St.. Bear right at fork. Park on left by lil' chapel. Walk to end of the road facing the ocean. If you pass Washington St you hit Land's End in like 3 miles.
