First Field TIrp Scheduled!

OK Ladies,
The Joshua Chamberlain Museum trip is planned for Oct. 8th 10 am. I am planning on going to the 8 am Mass at St.John's in Brunswick and then take the walking tour around the Bowdoin campus and to his grave so my boys can move a bit and get connected to JC before heading into the museum. You are welcome to join us.
I plan to pick up an info packet today so we can prep for the tour a bit. I will get 4, one for each family who has responded with interest. If you want one you may come get it from me or ask me to mail one to you. It will include a walking tour of the Brunswick/Bowdoin college area of sites relevant to Chamberlain's life as well as other historically significant info. I recommend you grab a video from the library either before or after the tour to cement some of the basic info for the kids. This has worked well for me in the past. ( Preview , tour, movie.)

I've gotten mixed responses for the PSO Kinderconcertz so how about we each pursue our own music events. Two of my favorites are both free for kids and educational as well as enjoyable. http://www.midcoastsymphony.org/

I have not gotten through to the biologist I was hoping to set up a field trip with but will continue to pursue that for Oct. too.

Book Sale!!!

Hi Educators,
An opportunity to buy books cheaply has presented itself.
Pauline Burnham in Lewiston has over 4500 books in her private library.
She has texts like Saxon and Voyages in English as well as religious, classics and classical books, fiction, etc. and picture books reading for all levels and ages. She is hosting an Economy Crash Sale in her garage and hopes to move many books out by mid-October. She prefers if you make an appointment to come see her. You can even call her with a list of books you might want to see if she has. She also hosts a large library in her home especially for Catholic Home Schoolers! Please consider supporting this wonderful lady and her generous ministry. All are welcome.
You may call her or contact her at: pburnham@roadrunner.com

Field trips.

Hi Ladies,
I am working on some field trips and need feedback.
Originally, I spoke about Joshua Chamberlain museum on Oct. 1st but want to wait for Lisa to return. How about Friday the 8th 10 am? We could meet after 8am Mass and walk around Bowdoin campus (burn off energy and point out relevant buildings to older kids) then head into the house/museum for our tour. Need to know ASAP on this. If I do not hear from you I assume you are not interested and will proceed on my own.

Some kinderconcerts are going to be held in Brunswick High's theatre.
If you are interested I am willing to make reservations but it fills fast (if not already) so you need to let me know ASAP.
Check out the website for the first two dates and let meknow if you want to go as a group (if over 25 of us sign up) or you can buy your own tickets and go individ.
Love and prayers, Val

First concert is Oct 29, then Feb. 18, Mar. 22, May 19

fresh air and excercise

Is anybody interested in doing the Bates/Morse walk in Phippsburg this Friday? I know there is a plan to celebrate a Feast day this spring and do the walk but I'm heading out this fall while the weather is still good and would love some company. So would my kids.

Tonight's Meeting

I thought it was a good meeting tonight. The reminders that it is just the beginning, and it takes several weeks to relax into the homeschooling schedule were very timely! Thank you!

Val--the field trip ideas are exciting!

Kristen will be asking Fr. Parent to do our opening Mass Tuesday Oct 5th, 6:30 in Lewiston.

Sat Oct 16 there is a public Rosary on the Brunswick green, and in fromt of St. Mary's, at Noon. This is a Nation wide event!

Please post anything else you remember from the meeting that my foggy brain has forgotten.

Tuesday

I hope to be there Tuesday night.
We are SO overscheduled with karate, soccer, music lessons, homeschool, etc.
One day at a time I do what is in front of me. Well,it should be fold laundry right now, but I turned and it became computer catch up time...
I anticipate it will be "drive to St.Charles at 7", tommorrow.
See you there!
Val

Vacation

Hi All--keep me in your prayers! I`m in the home stretch (3 days left) of our visit to Canada. The last few days are always the hardest with having self-control and not acting like a teenager with my Mom! I am ready to be home and back in the homeschooling schedule! Miss John a lot too. I was happy to realize that our meeting is next Tuesday--can`t wait to see everyone! Pray for the Nelsons too--they are in the Southwest for most of the month

Mary Catherine did not finish her 1 week of lessons before we left, and we had a nausea inducing (me) argument over Latin today. All`s well that ends well--just not sure when I`ll know it`s ended well! :)

Manitoba is cold--your surprised, right.

Hi

Just checking in to see if I can do this.
Val

Hi Ladies and thanks for all the prayers!!!

Hi ladies,
I just wanted to take this wonderful opportunity to thank all those who prayed for us while we were going through a rough time. The storm has past and there are clear blue skys ahead finally. God is great!! In the midst of such pain and suffering God showed me gently what He was using all of it for. "All for His Glory and Honor!!" He enlightened many, and I do say many, souls on mixed marriages & dispensations. Kid you not, some have been changed forever and taught the truths of our faith and will never be the same. God brought reconciliation between a father and a son. ( After three long years ) from this whole ordeal. What it all boils down to is our willingness to let Our Lord use us as His instruments. TRUST TRUST TRUST My husband and I have grown in our faith as well, as well as closer to each other. Its all so amazing. It showed us clearly where all our love ones, mostly our extended families are at in there journey with God. It was hard and very painful and it has brought us closer to God but I honestly have to say I'm so glad it is over. I am even becoming a "Grand mother" imagine that!!! What a blessing. Thanks again for all your prayers all of you. I Love you!!! Lisa St. Jean
