Just thought I'd share that quote from Sally Fallon Morell. I love it, and feel it is one of the primary
motivators for why we homeschool families do what we do for our kids. This is not the mindset of our community schools, for the most part.
Cal was in the Mites league of hockey with his age group, but not enjoying it, and not motivated. The coach suggested we put him in the group below, which he immediately thought were "babies", and didn't want to do it. When we suggested he try it and perhaps, being older, he could "help the little kids enjoy the sport." Thankfully, that was an ok suggestion and lo and behold, he now wants to go more and loves it.
Let's share our successes, so we can inspire one another. Christy shared her experience with working with Zoe in her earlier days, when Zoe was more fearful. Zoe is now so comfortable without her parents ( with us), and its a delight to see her telling stories and suggesting things to do with "the kids", etc. Christy's story helped me step back and try a new route to Cal's resistance to long division. It worked, and now he thinks long division is "too easy." It might last only a day, but it's progress! I am grateful for the sharing you moms do. Thanks.
