Ascension Outing
Are we still on for an outing on Ascension Thursday? How about meeting at at Thomas Point Beach for a picnic lunch then kite flying? I think Val has the particulars about cost. Or maybe someone has an alternative location that doesn't cost anything and is centrally located? Depending on the Mass times maybe we could plan to attend Mass together at one of our churches? Any thoughts.....?Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Thanks to my son,
Nate, who helped me figure out how to repost the Upcoming Events section which I roundly deleted while trying to be a smart alec and correct all of A's spelling mistakes. Who needs "Computer Literacy" when you have a twelve-year-old son?
Trivia Challenge
We have great memories from our variety show and spelling bee. Thanks again Alison and your secretary for putting it all together:) The kids were amazing.
Can everyone email me your questions for the Trivia Challenge by Monday night? I know I will only get time to write it all out sporadically through the week, so the sooner I get them the better.
If its not raining, after trivia the kids can play outside and go to the water.....bring mud boots for better mucking down there if you like.
I will make some popcorn and punch of some kind for treats. I have a small box of sparklers for each of the kids as a prize if thats ok with all of you.

Program
Here is the nearly fnial copy of the program--I thought if any of you have children who like to plan ahead/know what is comming, it might be helpful for them to see the program. My Thalia is like this--so I wanted everyone else to have the same opportunity I did to answer her questions as per where she is in the line-up. Call my secretary Stacy if you have any major changes.

Tonight's Meeting
Hi Ladies,
Why don't we listen to the CD "How to Keep Your Kids Catholic" at the meeting tonight? We didn't get to it last month and maybe we could all use just a night with our feet up. The topic will give us plenty to discuss after we're done listening. I'll bring the boom box and CD. Does anyone have an electric kettle so we could have tea? I hope we're all planning on attending; it would be wonderful to have a full house! See you then!

Trivia Challenge
Does everyone still want to do this on the 27th? If everyone is feeling a bit overloaded we can push it to the summer time break. I am up for it either way. If evryone votes a go on it, we can bring our questions to the next meeting or email me the questions.
(I will probably be late to the Teus. meeting because Clare has a 6pm baseball game and B cannot get home early enough to take her that day)

Cryptid Craze in Portland (and in Harpswell)
http://www.cryptozoologymuseum.com/
Hi Moms,
I'm planning a Cryptozoology field trip to the only museum of its kind in the world. It just happens to be in Portland Maine! This field trip is really for the older crowd because a lot of the collection is creepy. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term it is the search for and study of animals that are reported to exist but not confimed; i.e. Bigfoot,Loch Ness Monster, Champie, etc. I would recommend it for children who already are cryptid crazed like my kids (and me before them). Please do a search online and get your own impressions before sending your kids. We did a cryptid unit study a few years back and were able to really get a handle on the subject from a Catholic persepective. This is why I can pursue it with my crowd. I understand it's not for everyone. If you have any questions or want to talk about it before deciding feel free to call me. I'm thinking we'll do this some time in June after school is out. I want to make sure that Loren Coleman will be there and will give us a tour personally. He is the owner of the museum and has been researching cryptids for 50 years.
Hope you're all having a peaceful Easter and Spring!

Talent Show Participants
Hello dear Friends--please email me, edblouin1021@yahoo.com, with the names of participants in the talent show, and what they will be performing. (parents are invited to sing, dance, recite poetry too!!!). I want to put together a schedule and program. Also, speaking of the program, is anyone willing to print it? I can print it, but they will all be pink because I'm out of ink and will not have the budget to get another cartridge for a while (what's the point of a recession without some good stories--like pink programs, right?). But if there is a willing donor of printer ink to whom I could email the program that would be great!

Dorothy Pilarski For mothers, their time belongs to the family - Guest Columnists - The Catholic Register
Dorothy Pilarski For mothers, their time belongs to the family - Guest Columnists - The Catholic Register: Mother Teresa said this:“I think the world today is upside down. Everybody seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater development and greater riches and so on. There is much suffering because there is so very little love in homes and in family life. We have no time for our children, we have no time for each other; there is no time to enjoy each other. In the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world.”
Happy Mother's Day dear moms, please, let's be gentle with ourselves and continue to pray for one another.

Spelling Bee!
One of the funnest parts of the talent show has been the spelling Bee. I found this page with instructions and lists. I like what they have written for instructions, and think we should do it the way they suggest. Any thoughts?
I was thinking that we could use this list for the spell off, and include adults in that part. It is SO FUN!!!!
I have St. Patrick's booked--bring a dessert to share!

Contact info list!
On the right side bar, right under the much neglected "Anchovy Meadows" blog link, there is a "Contact info for most of us" Link that you can click on if you need to call/email any of us. We have added new members since that list was published. You know who you are. Just edit the list to add yourself if you want.

An Excuse for a party!
Thursday is Cinqo de Mayo--I'm not sure what this holiday is about--esp since I have been told it is not celebrated in Mexico. Regardless, it is a reminder to me that both John Henry and Arveragus were baptised on May 5th, and Thalia received confirmation and Eucharist on May 4th (the same year as Weggie's Baptism--it was a great weekend!)
SOOOOOOO we are having a Cinqo de Mayo + 24 hours party on Friday afternoon beginning at 1 pm. Don't look at the weather forecast. It is horrible for the foreseeable future. But I'm STILL having a party!!! Bring a Mexican inspired snack if you want. or just show up. Maybe we'll make a homemade pinata the day before. . . .I'll do some online research and figure out some fun things to do.

Life is good, God is Love, and I'm working on being "gentle and kind" and having a calm soul!!
