Hi Ladies,
This coming Wednesday is the Dining with the Saints at Saint Mary's. I can't remember the name of the Saint, but she is the patron saint of social workers. There will be a guest speaker (a social worker) before dinner. Related activity starts at 5p followed by the speaker, prayer and dinner. We're usually eating by 5:30-5:45. Hope to see you there!
Also, I thought it would be fun if the kids could line up on the porch Sunday for a group shot and maybe each give a little talk about their saint . We'll see what the moods are and how it unfolds.
See you Sunday: 3-6
Glad your back, Janine.

Theatre to See
Hi All--my Thalia is working on Beowulf, which has performances Nov 4th 5th 11th and 12th There is one evening, Thursday Nov 10, which is a pay what you can show. The audience can only be 1/2 full since they are filming that night and you have to reserve tickets ahead. There is a matinee on Nov 13. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Beowulf is a violent story, and I know there are monsters and swords invlolved. Squeemish or easily frightened people probably should not come!
Also--Heartwood theatre is doing Pinnochio in December. That will be fun! They will have a free homeschooler day for that I do belive. Hope I see everyone on Sunday at Stacy's!!!

All Saints Day Party
Just a reminder...All Saints Party at my house October 30th 3-6. Bring something to share if you feel like it and a bag of candy for the saints. I'd like to save the candy for departure time if that's OK. I only ask to save that bit till the end as I was still picking up candy wrappers in July...those plastic wrappers don't mow as nicely as the other bits of trash I tend to mow over. I'll rope my sister into baking something saintly so we have dessert.
I'll have two big pots of chili with all the trimmings, cider, iced tea (george's request). I have all the plates, cups etc.
Pass the word around. See you soon!

Fri. night dance anyone??
Hi all,
found this flyer in Bath, and heard it is big fun.....live music, dance steps called out to all, so we will know what to do ( although my eye-foot-hand discoordination will readily become apparent). Cost is $3 per person, and max of $12 per family. Stacy, I would love to have Courtney and family come too........or anyone else that you might think to invite. We cannot go this weekend, but I am thinking next month for sure. We would love it if some or all of you came as well.

New Link
I just added a link on our Blog List on the right side of our page--scroll down a bit. It ssays "Read the Book, John Taylor Gatto" I havn't myself read the book yet--they are posting "A History of American Education" one chapter at a time. I don't lnow if this is old or nre (the postings) because it looks to me that all of the whole book may be there. JTG influenced our decision to homeschool, and I bet his book will be very interesting and revealing. Anyone want to read/discuss with me? Let's start with the intro!

KinderKoncert trips
The Portland Symphony Orchestra (P.S.O.) has 4 programs in Brunswick called Kinderconcertz, appropriate for ages 3-7.
Perhaps we could coordinate so that two parents take the littlers, while others hang at the Curtis Memorial or Longfellow playground with the olders.
Here's the nuts and bolts, all have choice of 9:30 or 10:30, so they're about 40-45 minutes:
Thurs. Nov. 3 Woodwinds
Tues March 6 Brass
Thurs. April 27, Strings
Tues. May 15, Percussion.
I could take two kids in my car (reader be warned that it is sanitary disaster) if I traded them for Kylie.
Also there are two youth concerts in Portland that sounds great:
Beethoven in the House, Tues. Oct. 259:30 and 11:10
Sounds Like Art: Painting, Poetry and Performance, Monday,May 7.
Kinderconcertz are $4/person (kid and adult)
Youth are $5/person unless we can get a group of 25+
For these I could also fit two in the car if I traded Finian.
Don't think I can make tomorrow night's meeting, but if you guys want to discuss during business and post blog, we may be able to get plans underway. I think we'll need at least two grownups for the kinderconcertz (depending on how many attend) and two for Youth, of course more are welcome and I am happy to be a chaperon or watch the others. If we are interested in doing this, we can hammer out those details later.
Thanks!
C

All Saints Day
It's 3 1/2 weeks away--anyone wanna host? I'll offer, but really want someone else to don't want to monopolize all the parties--so if someone else wants to host (Stacy?) please step in! It's on a Tuesday. I thought an afternoon-evening event might be able to have some Dad attendance, What do you think? Thalia is already planning her St. Ursula (?!) costume. xxxooo

Blog Business
Getting them all focused on the Lesson and crafts.
Hi All--I hope that most of us are up and running with the Blog. Lisa is having a hard time posting--try hitting the "Back" button (upper left corner of computer)when it says you can't have access--that has worked for me when I run into glitches like that.
Some of the shrines and an angel.
I actually JUST changes the comment settings to allow anonymous users to comment--please just sign your name if you comment this way. So now you don't have to be signed in to comment, but you DO have to be signed in to Post.
Angels on Chicken wire.
ALSO--I had considered moving the October meeting to the 11th as per the parish retreat which is happening that week. But I'm re-considering since there are some scheduling conflicts in the group. So we will still meet on the 18th of October, but maybe we should find another location for that night since St. Charles will be rather full. Any ideas?
Stacy, always the gracious hostess!
Devil Food Baby.
The November meeting is switched to the 22nd and we WILL have the Library. YEAH!!! I may even try leaving busy Boy Blaise at home and see how traumatized he and the Dad are by the time I get home.... hehehehe.
N.B. the new sidebar at right. Please Add your family's suggestions to the list. Click on design, and click EDIT on that sidebar and you can have a ball telling us all the books and Movies you and your children have enjoyed. Today is the feast of St. Terese (my patron). "Terese" by St. Luke Productions is a great movie to watch!!
God Bless all y'all!!!!
